Jostaberry

 Size: 4-5’ height and spread at maturity

Pollenizer requirement: Self fruitful so no pollenizer is required

Resistant to White Pine Blister Rust. Sweet/tart, dark firm berries loaded with Vitamin C are suitable for fresh eating or processing for juices, jellies, syrups, etc. This is a cross between a gooseberry and a black currant. Self fruitful. Very easy plant to grow. 

Autumn Brilliance Serviceberry Shrub (sold out for 2023)

This is a beautiful ornamental plant that also produces edible fruit for both humans and birds. Showy white blossoms in the spring with brilliant red orange fall color. We often get asked for plants that would “help block out the view of our neighbors”. Here’s one to consider. 🙂

Also called “Juneberry” this is a nice shrub form of serviceberry. Dark purple fruit is sweet and good for eating or making jelly. Harvested in June. Beautiful yellow to red foliage in the fall. Very easy to grow. Extremely cold hardy!

Heavy fruiting variety with large red fruit. Excellent for making preserves. This is also an excellent wildlife planting especially for turkeys. Extremely cold hardy!

Extremely cold hardy shrub that produces edible 1/3” cherries in June-July. Excellent jams or jellies or can be eaten fresh. Very easy to grow and will sometimes produce fruit the first year of planting!

American Hazelnut

Can take sun or partial shade. Rounded edible nuts ½” wide with 2 to 4 in a cluster. Useful as a shrub border or simply on it’s own.
