We have some excellent options for those looking to increase their edible landscape, wildlife plantings, hedgerows, etc. Many of these plants also provide a great way to increase your harvest window of edible fruits!

Jostaberry

Resistant to White Pine Blister Rust. Sweet/tart, dark firm berries loaded with Vitamin C are suitable for fresh eating or processing for juices, jellies, syrups, etc. This is a cross between a gooseberry and a black currant. Self fruitful. Very easy plant to grow.

This is a beautiful ornamental plant that also produces edible fruit for both humans and birds. Showy white blossoms in the spring with brilliant red orange fall color. We often get asked for plants that would “help block out the view of our neighbors”. Here’s one to consider. 🙂

Also called “Juneberry” this is a nice shrub form of serviceberry. Dark purple fruit is sweet and good for eating or making jelly. Harvested in June. Beautiful yellow to red foliage in the fall. Very easy to grow. Extremely cold hardy!
