Plum trees are $33 bareroot and $46 potted.

Plum Tree Pollination

The Mount Royal is a European self fruitful plum. The others do require a pollinator. Toka is an exceptional pollinator for other varieties.

Plum Tree Sizing

The plum trees are generally a minimum of a ¾” caliper size and 6-8′ tall.

Plum Tree Rootstock

The plum trees are on a standard Prunus Americana rootstock. Please see descriptions for mature height.

Large burgundy red fruit is soft and sweet. Great for fresh eating or preserves. Best pollinators are Superior or Toka.

BlackIce

Cross between a cherry plum and a conventional Japanese dessert plum resulting in a large fruit with superior winter hardiness and an early ripening date. Has been shown to be hardy to Zone 3b.

Considered the best blue cultivar in WI and MN. Excellent fresh eating, preserves, jam. This variety is self fruitful and does not require a pollinator. However, this plum will not pollinate another variety.

Large, red, pointed fruit with sweet yellow flesh. Very good dessert plum. 1923 introduction.

Very attractive, large red plum with a golden blush. Sweet, juicy, yellow flesh with excellent quality. 1942 U of MN release. Fresh eating, jam and jelly. Very hardy. Lisa’s favorite plum tree!

1933 release from the U of MN. Large fruit with dark red skin. Sweet, juicy yellow flesh. Considered one of the best plums on the market.

Toka

Sizes: 15′-20′ (mature height)

Ripens: Mid-August

Also known as “Bubblegum”. This is a prolific producer of medium sized fruit that is richly flavored. Excellent fresh eating. This plum is a highly regarded pollinator for other varieties. Introduced in 1911 from the South Dakota Experiment Station.

Waneta (Potted Only)

1913 introduction from the South Dakota Experiment Station. Produces well the first season after planting. One of the best market plums. Fruit is large, red, sweet, juicy and of good quality.
