About Our Plum Trees

Plum Tree Pricing

The plum trees are $27 for bare root and $38 potted. Plum trees do require a pollinator of a different variety! The varieties below will work for each other.

Large burgundy red fruit is soft and sweet. Great for fresh eating or preserves. Best pollinators are Superior or Toka.

BlackIce

Sizes: 8′-12′ (mature height)

Ripens: Early August

Cross between a cherry plum and a conventional Japanese dessert plum resulting in a large fruit with superior winter hardiness and an early ripening date. Has been shown to be hardy to Zone 3b.

Very attractive, large red plum with a golden blush. Sweet, juicy, yellow flesh with excellent quality. 1942 U of MN release. Fresh eating, jam and jelly. Very hardy. Lisa’s favorite plum tree!

1933 release from the U of MN. Large fruit with dark red skin. Sweet, juicy yellow flesh. Considered one of the best plums on the market.

Toka

Ripens: Mid-August

1911 introduction from the South Dakota Experiment Station. Medium size, richly flavored. One of the best pollinators.

Waneta

Sizes: 10′-15′ (mature height)

Ripens: Late July

1913 introduction from the South Dakota Experiment Station. Produces well the first season after planting. One of the best market plums. Fruit is large, red, sweet, juicy and of good quality.
