About Our Pear Trees

Pear Tree Sizes: There is variability in the tree sizes, but they are generally a ¾” caliper minimum with light to moderate branching (feathering). Height is usually at least 5′, but often over 7′.

Pear trees are $33 bare root and $46 potted.

Pollination

Pears do require an additional pear tree of a different variety for pollination. The pears available here will work for each other. *See note on the Colette which is partially self-pollinating

Pear Tree Sizing

Semi-Dwarf: Approximate 15′ maturity, typically starts producing fruit in 2-4 years although full crops take 5-7
Standard: Approximate 20′ maturity, typically starts producing fruit in 4-5 years

A unique pear that repeatedly blooms and produces pears from mid-September up until a hard frost. This tree is somewhat self-fertile, but the early crop will be better if a different variety of pear is present for pollination. Smooth, sweet, grit free flesh is very good for fresh eating, but makes an excellent canning pear as well.

Very hardy. Yellow fruit lightly blushed with dull red. Best for canning and spicing, fair for fresh eating.

Large, yellow bronze fruit that is fine-grained, tender and juicy. Vigorous growth habit. A 1934 University of MN introduction that is also a popular pollinator.

Tender, juicy fruit of a good size. Very good for fresh eating. A great pollinator for other pears.

Peggy Asian Pear

Sweet, crisp, juicy pear with an excellent storage life. Beautiful greenish-golden russet color with white flesh. Excellent fresh eating pear.
