About Our Pear Trees

Pear Tree Sizes: There is variability in the tree sizes, but they are generally a ¾” caliper minimum with light to moderate branching (feathering). Height is usually at least 5′, but often over 7′.

Pear Tree Pricing

Pear trees are $35.99 bare root and $49.99 potted.

*Bareroot trees include myco root dip and a tree guard.
**Potted trees include a tree guard.

Pollination

Pears do require an additional pear tree of a different variety for pollination. The pears available here will work for each other.

Pear Tree Sizing

Semi-Dwarf: Approximate 15′ maturity, typically starts producing fruit in 2-4 years although full crops take 5-7
Standard: Approximate 20′ maturity, typically starts producing fruit in 4-5 years

Early Gold

Nice fresh eating or canning pear that ripens in early August. Extremely cold hardy.

Very hardy. Yellow fruit lightly blushed with dull red. Best for canning and spicing, fair for fresh eating.

Luscious

Ripens in mid-September. Juicy, sweet medium yellow fruit. Foliage has red fall color! NOTE: This tree does require a pollinator, but it’s pollen is sterile meaning it will not pollinate another tree. Example: Patten will pollinate the Luscious, but Luscious will not pollinate the Patten. So you will need to make sure you have a third variety such as Early Gold to pollinate the Patten.

Large, yellow bronze fruit that is fine-grained, tender and juicy. Vigorous growth habit. A 1934 University of MN introduction that is also a popular pollinator.

Tender, juicy fruit of a good size. Very good for fresh eating. A great pollinator for other pears.

Summercrisp is a superb fresh eating pear that ripens mid August. Sweet and juicy, it can also be used for canning. Extremely cold hardy.

Ripens: Late August/Early September

Fruit is light brown, crisp and tastes like a cross between an apple and a pear. Excellent for fresh eating or canning. This tree is partially self-fruitful, but will do better with another pear around for pollination.
